Live chat
#wordpress on Libera.Chat is a volunteer-run support channel where WordPress developers answer each other’s questions. It is not staffed by this site, and nobody there is paid to help you.
Open #wordpress on Libera.Chat (opens Libera.Chat in a new tab)
Paste first, then ask
The fastest way to get an answer is a link to code someone can run. Put your snippet in a paste, pick the environment it needs (a stocked store, a large content set), and share that link in the channel. Whoever helps you can open it, press Run, change the code and hand back a working version.
Pasting a stack trace into a chat window loses the formatting and buries the channel. A link does not.
Your nickname
You arrive as a WordPress function, wp_mail-wpp-4 for example. The name is drawn from the functions in the current release, and the -wpp marks where you came from, which is worth knowing in a room of volunteers. It is kept in this browser so you keep the same name if you come back.
Before you ask
- Say what you expected and what happened
- Both. “It doesn’t work’’ cannot be answered.
- Say which WordPress version
- Behaviour changes between releases. If you are not sure a function does what you remember, check it in the reference first.
- Then wait
- People answer when they are free, which may be hours. Stay in the channel; asking again in five minutes does not speed it up.
