WP_Filesystem_FTPext::connect() WordPress Method
The WP_Filesystem_FTPext::connect() method is used to connect to a server via FTP using the external FTP library, if it is available. This will typically be used to connect to a remote server for the purposes of upgrading WordPress, installing plugins, or themes.
