dbDelta() WordPress Function

The dbDelta function is used to create or modify the database tables that are required by a WordPress plugin or theme. It is used to compare the current database schema with the desired schema, and then generate the SQL queries needed to update the database.

dbDelta( string[]|string $queries = '', bool $execute = true ) #

Modifies the database based on specified SQL statements.

Description

Useful for creating new tables and updating existing tables to a new structure.

Parameters

$queries

(string[]|string)(Optional) The query to run. Can be multiple queries in an array, or a string of queries separated by semicolons.

Default value: ''

$execute

(bool)(Optional) Whether or not to execute the query right away.

Default value: true

Top ↑

Return

(array) Strings containing the results of the various update queries.
