wp_version_check() WordPress Function
The wp_version_check() function is used to check the current version of WordPress against the latest version. If a new version is available, it will notify the user and provide a link to download the update.
wp_version_check( array $extra_stats = array(), bool $force_check = false ) #
Check WordPress version against the newest version.
Description
The WordPress version, PHP version, and locale is sent.
Checks against the WordPress server at api.wordpress.org. Will only check if WordPress isn’t installing.
Parameters
- $extra_stats
(array)(Optional)Extra statistics to report to the WordPress.org API.
Default value: array()
- $force_check
(bool)(Optional)Whether to bypass the transient cache and force a fresh update check. Defaults to false, true if $extra_stats is set.
Default value: false
