wp_date() WordPress Function
The wp_date() function is used to retrieve the date and time of a WordPress post. It accepts a format string as its first parameter and a timestamp as its second parameter. The function returns a formatted date string.
wp_date( string $format, int $timestamp = null, DateTimeZone $timezone = null ) #
Retrieves the date, in localized format.
Description
This is a newer function, intended to replace date_i18n()
without legacy quirks in it.
Note that, unlike date_i18n()
, this function accepts a true Unix timestamp, not summed with timezone offset.
Parameters
- $format
(string)(Required)PHP date format.
- $timestamp
(int)(Optional) Unix timestamp. Defaults to current time.
Default value: null
- $timezone
(DateTimeZone)(Optional) Timezone to output result in. Defaults to timezone from site settings.
Default value: null
Return
(string|false) The date, translated if locale specifies it. False on invalid timestamp input.
